We are centrally located to many of the key West Coast’s scenic attractions.
Goldfield suites is located near the start/end of the spectacular West Coast Wilderness Trail. Pick-ups and drop-offs can be arranged and there is safe vehicle parking while you enjoy the trail. There are also a number of loop rides from our gate.
Shantytown Heritage Park, a faithful recreation of 1860 goldrush town, is next to Goldfield Suites, a short walk away. The Woods Creek historical gold workings are also nearby with working gold mines visible from the road.
Borrow one of our gold pans and try your luck gold fossicking at Moonlight Gully, Nelson Creek, Goldsborough, or in our own stream.
Nearby are easy hiking options at Woods Creek Track with its historic gold workings, Coal Creek Track with its picturesque waterfall, and the new Paparoa and Pike29 tracks . A short drive away are the distinctive rock formations at Punakaiki, with Lake Brunner also under an hour away.
Nearby is Garth Wilson Jade with a selection of handcrafted pieces made from raw jade gathered by Garth himself. Make your own hand-forged knife at Barrytown Knifemaking or watch art be made in front you at the glass blowing studio in Hokitika. Enjoy a thrilling adventure in a Hagglund through the mud with On Yer Bike. Round off your day with an evening stroll out to the Greymouth breakwater viewing platform to watch fishing boats brave the notorious bar, and watch the sun set into the Tasman sea.
Greymouth is an ideal location for fishing with many nearby rivers and lakes with healthy populations of trout and salmon, and of course, whitebait. There is also great estuarine fishing, surfcasting, and sea fishing available. Guided fishing can be arranged on request.
The West Coast is blessed with some amazing motorcycling roads. Basing yourself in Greymouth provides several great day rides with a comfortable base to return to in the evening. We are a motorcycle friendly accommodation provider and your ride will be safe here overnight.
