We are centrally located to many of the key West Coast’s scenic attractions.
Goldfield suites are situated near the start/end of the spectacular multi-day ride that is the West Coast Wilderness track. Just a short ride off the trail at Paroa. Pick-ups and drop-offs can also be arranged. There are also a number of loop rides from our gate
Shantytown heritage park, a faithful recreation of 1860 goldrush town, shares one of our boundaries and is a short walk away. Also nearby are the Woods Creek historical gold workings with working gold mines visible from the road.
Borrow one of our gold pans and try your luck gold fossicking at Moonlight Gully, Nelson Creek, or in our own stream.
Nearby are easy hiking options at Woods Creek Track with its historic gold workings, Coal Creek Track with its picturesque waterfall, and the new Paparoa and Pike29 tracks . A short drive away are the distinctive rock formations at Punakaiki, with lake Brunner also under an hour away.
Nearby is Garth Wilson Jade with a selection of handcrafted pieces made from raw jade gathered by Garth. Or perhaps making your own hand-forged knife at Barrytown Knifemaking appeals? Perhaps the glass blowing studio in Hokitika appeals? Or maybe a ride in a Hagglund through the mud? Round off your day with an evening stroll out to the breakwater viewing platform to watch fishing boats brave the notorious Greymouth bar, and watch the sun set into the Tasman sea.
Greymouth is an ideal location for fishing with many nearby rivers and lakes with healthy populations of trout and salmon, and of course whitebait. There is also great estuarine fishing, surfcasting, and sea fishing.
The West Coast is blessed with some amazing motorcycling roads. Basing yourself in Greymouth, opens a number of possibilities for great day rides with a comfortable base to return to in the evening. We are a motorcycle friendly accommodation provider and your ride will be safe here over night.
